Sarah Autumn MA
Eyup! I’m Sarah Autumn. Leeds based community, media, activist type.
Like many people the pandemic was a time of BIG change for me. Prior to that I’d spent years running my own business, working on community and activism stuff in my spare time.
Over several years my community and activism work grew and grew, so when the pandemic hit and I lost a big chunk of my business, it was a tipping point and time to dedicate myself full time to the issues and causes that really matter to me.
Denetta and I started working together on a single project in 2020 and we’ve been on a creative journey ever since. It hasn’t been an easy one for us but I can honestly say I stand by everything we’ve created and am proud of the work we’ve done this past two years.
My skills and work background are pretty varied so I’ve added added the ‘official’ bio below.
Sarah worked as a Media Trainer, Consultant and Lecturer following her Media Production degree in the early 2000s and a Masters in International Communications in 2010.
From photography and radio to graphic design and social media, Sarah has trained in and worked with a range of creative mediums to develop strategies and skills for organisations including Universities and Colleges, City Councils, Household brand names, Small and medium sized businesses and Charities.
She has also delivered digital and media training to over 5000 people over the years on a wide range of professional courses and lectured at Leeds Beckett and The University of Leeds.
Alongside her professional work, Sarah has been increasingly active on social justice issues. From anti-racism and the refugee crisis to women’s rights and climate change. As a Community organiser and Activist, she organises and participates in protests, direct action and campaigns.
Sarah wants to bring together activism, art and media to build more resilient and expressive communities; and has been exploring creative ways to address the important issues of the world.
